If SF is preported to be so bright then why would he EVEN CONSIDER taking drugs as a remedy to depression, let alone trying to self medicate??!! REAL manic depression is no ‘walk in the park’,it’s a condition that should be treated by experts only with he use of specific anti physcotic medicaion and counselling.I’m sorry, but all these media hungry self obssesed media celeb types have made light of drug use and are now reaping the rewards and worse making careers from being victims!!

Even still, many of Monk’s contemporaries, peers and critics alike, or the press, etc. started to judge his manic depression or bi-polar disorder, as further “proof” of his eccentricities as a musical “genius.” Meanwhile, the actual effects of his illness in fact often times made it impossible for Monk to work and be productive. And there is nothing “romantic or desirable about playing the tortured artist.”
